A Goldilocks Day
The Archers Track - Sunday 24 January 2021
Sandwiched between two beautiful bays in the Marlborough Sounds, with another half way through, the Archers Track is an Easy Grade club favourite.
15 of us set out from Penzance Bay heading west. The track wends its way across to the private cottage at Deep Cove which is at about the half way point, and then continues on to Elaine Bay. The track is in fabulous condition - much of it can be walked two abreast, and it’s of dual walking / mountain bike quality. The bush is lush and beautiful, with tantalising glimpses of the blue-blue water below.
It was a Goldilocks Day, not too hot and not too cold. Along with great company and no hills, this made for a very relaxed walk. We were out for about six and a half hours, including morning tea, a stop at Deep Cove in each direction, and a very leisurely lunch at Elaine Bay before returning back to Penzance.
We were: Diane (leader), Lesley, Leslie, Uta, Robyn, Mary, Anne, Anna, Helen, Donell, Donald, Jo, Joy, Chris, and Lynley (visitor).
