A new 30 metre wooden footbridge has been installed over the South Branch Maitai River during June. The new bridge and approaches cost $81,000 and was Nelson City Council funded as their contribution toward the upgrade of The Dun Trail. As part of the National Cycleway, $480,000 is being spent on the upgrade of the trail that loops between Brook Valley and the Maitai River, following in part the route of New Zealand's first railway.
