Lake Rotoiti circuit

Nelson Lakes National Park
 
 Sunday 6 January 2019 

(Moderate)

A 25km loop of the lake, starting and ending at Kerr Bay. The circuit will take about 8 hours and include a crossing of the Travers River between Lakehead and Coldwater huts

Klondyke circuit

Victoria Forest Park

 Sat Sun 12-13 January 2019

(Hard)

Start from Rahu Saddle between Springs Junction and Reefton. Go up Klondyke Valley Track and tent overnight near an alpine tarn (5 hours). The aim is to return along the ridge crest until reaching the Klondyke Spur Track. There are bluffs to negotiate and this trip will only run if the weather is suitable.

Red Hills Hut

Devils Creek Hut

From end of Wakamarina Road a walk of 2½ hours to Devils Creek Hut. Return via Doom Creek loop or climb to see derelict mining huts if time permits.

Browning Hut

Walk the Hacket Track to Browning Hut and return, taking 6-7 hours. Have a swim at Busch Reserve afterward.

Ruby Lake & Lake Lockett

Kahurangi National Park

 Sat-Sun 26-27 January 2019

(Easy/moderate)

From Cobb dam, walk up past Sylvester Hut, over Iron Hill and on to Ruby Lake to camp. Next day walk to Lake Lockett and along trap line back to the Cobb. Mostly off track, with tops travel and camping. May add a third day.
